As a member of Working alongside the BVIP Partnership Council, the Immigrant Advisory Group (IAG) meets to help implement BVIP's 2025-2029 Bow Valley Immigrant Inclusion Strategy, and identify and respond to emerging integration challenges.

This is a volunteer position.

Who Should Apply?

Please apply to join the IAG if:

  1. You were born outside of Canada

  2. You now live in Lake Louise, Banff, Canmore, Exshaw, Harvie Heights, Lac Des Arcs, Dead Man's Flats, or Kananaskis.

  3. You want to help create a welcoming and inclusive communtiy for all

  4. You are interested in helping your community

  5. You feel comfortable communicating in English in a supportive and friendly environment

What Do IAG Members Do?

  • Meet in-person or online, about 3-4 times a year

  • Help make decisions for BVIP from the perspectives of immigrants

  • Advise on emerging needs, challenges, or opportunities in your communities

  • Provide lived experience advice to community partners, for example:

    • Help design activities and events to build a welcoming community,

    • Advise local partner organizations about how to create more inclusive programs or activities

    • Suggest new partnerships, and more

  • Share information with your networks and community groups 

  • Help recruit new IAG members throughout the year

  • Act as champions of welcoming and inclusive communities

  2. The BVIP Executive Committee reviews all applications. We aim to recruit a diverse membership, which reflects the Bow Valley community.

  3. If we accept your application, we will send you more information. Then, you will attend Immigrant Advisory Group meetings.

  • Fun! — We can't promise every meeting will be fun, but we do our best -- and we provide snacks to help fuel the creative process!

The Bow Valley Immigration Partnership welcomes members of all backgrounds.

We ask many questions on this application form to learn more about you. We want people with many different backgrounds, identities, and experiences to participate.

We will share your answers only with BVIP's Executive Committee.
