What Is BVIP?
We’re a regional community partnership creating a more welcoming and inclusive Bow Valley for all, including immigrants and newcomers.
Through ‘collective impact’, our members contribute to a shared strategic plan. By working together, we can create greater change than any single organization or group.
We work to shift the whole community towards being more inclusive. We work with businesses, municipalities, schools, community groups and others to change systems and structures that might be barriers for immigrants to succeed and thrive in the Bow Valley.
We also work with the broader community to better understand the immigrant experience so that we can all be more welcoming and inclusive.
We bring people together to make the Bow Valley more welcoming and inclusive.
Together, our members follow three steps:
Listen and learn - we research to understand what’s important in the community
Connect - we gather and make a plan for action together
Do - we take on projects and initiatives to create change in the Bow Valley.
As the community changes and new needs and opportunities come up, BVIP members continue to work together to proactively build our community and respond to emerging trends.
Our Shared Strategy:
The Bow Valley 2019-2023 Integration Strategy is a collaborative, multi-sector plan to build a more welcoming and inclusive Bow Valley where all residents can participate, contribute, and know they belong.
Our yearly action plan is based on our shared strategy. We bring our partnership members together to:
listen and research immigrant and newcomer needs and opportunities
plan and deliver projects and strategic partnerships,
run campaigns for community impact
change systems and structures which can exclude immigrants and newcomers from full participation in society.

We’re one of 80+ Local Immigration Partnerships across Canada.
Bow Valley Immigration Partnership (BVIP) is a ‘Local Immigration Partnership’ (LIP) funded by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). There are about 80 LIPs across Canada.
LIPs are the mechanism through which IRCC supports the development of local partnerships and community-based planning around the needs of residents and newcomers.
We engage stakeholders from every sector, including employers, agencies, and the wider community to act as an incubator for ideas, measure trends, identify needs, and mobilize the appropriate community resources to meet those needs.
LIPs across the country work on their own community’s priorities which include integrating immigrant needs into planning, building welcoming communities, immigrant recruitment & retention, active inclusion, and more.
