Newcomer Voices

Were you born outside of Canada and now live in

The Bow Valley?

We need your help!

We are looking for immigrants and newcomers to Canada to help us create a new consultation group.

Why we are doing this?

Many local organizations want to improve their services to be more welcoming and inclusive for people from all around the world. They are looking for help to better understand the local community and want to hear from more immigrants and newcomers about their experiences and ideas.

We are helping by creating a group where organizations can come and ask questions to improve their programs and services.

This new group might meet every 2 months for consultations and other opportunities.

What does this involve?

We will ask you to:

  • Meet with us and other residents to share your experiences, ideas, and opinions. This could be in Banff or Canmore.

  • Share your feedback by email to help us create this group

  • You may join the group if you want to continue participating

What is the timing for this new group?

We are designing and trying this group in 2024. We hope to officially launch the group in April 2025.

Who are we looking for?

  • Living in the Bow Valley (Banff, Canmore, Kananaskis, Lake Louise, West MD of Bighorn (Dead Man's Flats, Exshaw, Harvie Heights, Lac Des Arcs)

  • Over 18 years old

  • Interested in creating a welcoming and inclusive community

What should you expect?

This group will include foreign-born residents like you. We are looking for around 8-12 people to join this group from across the Bow Valley.

  • We will meet in English, and we can help with translation and interpretation if you need it.

  • We will try our best to make it easy for you to participate. This might include help with transport to meetings, food, childcare, or honorariums (small payment to say thank you)
