⚠️ Instructions To Complete This Commitment:
Commitment:
Participate in a workshop to build the skills needed to review and update your sexual harassment policy, helping create safer, more inclusive workplaces while supporting employee wellness and retention.
Please complete all of the below requirements.
Part A: Workshop
Attend a skill-building workshop with YWCA Banff focused on developing or revising your sexual harassment policy. The session will focus on violence prevention and responding appropriately to disclosures of violence.
YWCA Banff recognizes that an organization’s policies depend highly on the context in which they were developed. As such, the workshop is not intended to develop policies for individual organizations. Instead, it will focus on building capacity to develop a comprehensive sexual assault policy based on and limited to information about trends, resources, and best practices related to sexual violence prevention and response.
Part B: Applying Learnings
After completing the training, submit proof to YWCA Banff demonstrating how you have implemented your learnings (e.g., a newly developed or updated policy).
You may also request a meeting with YWCA Banff to ask questions. All communications and interactions related to the policy review will be confidential and handled with sensitivity.
Submit Evidence When You have Completed This Commitment
Evidence should include written confirmation from YWCA Banff that you have completed the commitment.
This confirmation should include:
Attendance at the training; and
Proof of implementing the learnings by submitting a newly developed or updated policy.
Once you have completed each of the above requirements, upload your evidence using our online form as soon as possible. This allows time for review and feedback.
Evidence may be in the form of a document, email, newsletter, meeting minutes, social media post, etc.
Deadline to submit all evidence for the 2026-2027 WIC: 3PM, Tuesday, November 30th, 2027.

✅ Why This Commitment Is Important:
The problem we’re trying to solve:
Maintaining and reviewing sexual harassment and violence in the workplace policies is essential for creating an inclusive and respectful workplace culture, where employees feel safe, valued, and supported, knowing that the organization is committed to preventing and addressing harassment and violence in all its forms.
Regular reviews ensure that policies remain comprehensive, clear, and effective in preventing and addressing harmful behaviours.
Clear policies support workplace safety and effective responses, helping to build trust. Policies also play an important role in violence prevention, requiring strong, clear language and ensuring staff understand their rights.
Benefits:
Stronger, more effective workplace harassment policies: Policies are clearer, up to date, and aligned with best practices and legal requirements for preventing and responding to harassment. Stronger reporting confidence, better legal and HR readiness, and clearer manager response.
Safer and more inclusive work environments: Staff feel protected and respected, knowing their workplace actively addresses sexual harassment and supports those affected.
Improved retention and wellbeing: A proactive approach to safety and inclusion supports employee trust, loyalty, and mental health, helping reduce turnover.
Increased Internal Capacity: Through the workshop style session, organizations have an opportunity to develop practical skills in policy review and development, strengthening their internal capacity to prevent and respond to workplace harassment.
